Flash Templates Tutorials - Sound - Effect
Effect pop-up menu is stuffed with following facilities:
None – without effects, doesn’t imply any effects to the audio file
Left Channel – the sound is in the left channel only
Right Channel – the sound is in the right channel only
Fade Left to Right – sound moving from the left channel to the right one
Fade Right to Left – sound moving from the right channel to the left one
Fade In – playing with sound volume increasing
Fade Out – playing with sound volume fading
Custom – manual creation of sound effects by using graphic presentation of sound and adjusting sound envelope line
Sync pop-up menu:
Event – complete play of the sound from the very beginning till the end. It is recommended for: background sound while circulation or short sound effects. Event sound begins playing when its start frame appeared to be current and is played completely, independently from the Timeline even in case the movie clip is topped. Event sounds are mixed when you publish your movie clip.
Start – is the same as the Event, except the fact that if the sound is already playing, a new instance of sound is starting then. - If the selected sound is not over yet, there will not be re-playing then. It is a very useful feature, especially the buttons have long sound effects. For example, to prevent undesirable echoes, if the user would hold over the mouse button for several times in which the sound is assigned to Over event.
Stop – fades the sound, is used when it is necessary to turn off some specific sound. For example, in the tenth frame as a result of some actions a sound bumbum.wav started playing total length of which is 15 frames, but the user, after playing 8 frames, pressed switch to a different scene button, it is then necessary to disable playing of this sound.
Stream – synchronization mode. It synchronizes sound for playing on the web site. Flash makes animation playing along with the streaming sound. If Flash can not draw images fast enough, it misses some of them. In contrast to event sound, streaming sound stops when the animation stops. Also the streaming sound is played with the number of frames which it occupies. Streaming sounds are mixed when you are publishing your clip. Turn this option on if you want to anchor the image to the sound (in this very case and not vice versa). In this case, the movie will be tightly pegged to a played sound, that is if for any reasons Flash player could not process the graphics, it will be omitted. Usually it shows up in less smooth display of animation. In order to prevent such phenomenon, it is recommended to increase fps property: speed of frames playing per second - Modify / Movie. In the field Loops you can set the number of repetitions (the number of cycles) of the selected sound file to indicate how many times the sound must be played; for continuous playback enter a very big number.
Except for sampling rate and compression degree, there are some effective ways to use sound in movie clip preserving small size of the file:
Put points of the start and the end of the sound (in / out points), in order not to put "silence" in the final file. You can diversify the musical color of your clip by using various sound effects (such as: volume envelopes, looping, and in / out points) to the sounds of various keyframes.
You can get a lot of sounds with the help of only one sound file when using looping to fill the general sound theme and play it again. Loop the sounds for the theme of background music.
Clips that you export as QuickTime or Windows AVI files are using sounds not like Shockwave Flash clips, that is why file size is Flash-clip differs from the size of QuickTime or AVI file clips. Principles of exporting audio in the video are: Use as many sounds as you want without worrying about file size. Sounds are combined in one soundtrack when you export to QuickTime or Windows AVI. The number of sounds does not affect the final size of the file. Use stream synchronization to make the animation be synchronized with the soundtrack when you are viewing it in the editor.
If your computer does not possess enough resources to draw animation frames synchronously with sound, Flash will skip some frames.
