Flash Templates Tutorials - Animated symbol - Creating a movie clip symbol
Creating a movie clip symbol: select Insert / New Symbol. Enter 'INTRO – ANIMATION' in Symbol Properties dialog box. Check Movie Clip switcher to set the symbol behavior, and click OK. Flash will switch to symbols editing mode. This mode looks almost the same as movie editing mode. Note that the name of the edited symbol will appear in the top left corner of the window, a little bit above of the timeline. The same name will appear in library window. In the timeline double click on an existing layer and enter "Photo". Drag the instance INTRO - PHOTO from the library into the working field and combine their registration crosses. You have added a symbol instance INTRO - PHOTO into the symbol INTRO - ANIMATION. To move the symbol INTRO - PHOTO at one pixel, use the cursor arrows. If you hold down the Shift key pressed, a symbol will move at 10 pixels. In the timeline click on the frame 20 in the layer Photo and select Insert > Keyframe.
As you want the object moving to start outside the working field edges, you need to set a new position for the symbol INTRO - PHOTO in the frame 1.
Enable the keyframe 1, by clicking on it. Move the instance INTRO - PHOTO at 400 pixels to the right from registration tag. The exact location is of no special significance. Now you can set the motion tween of the object between frames 1 and 20. Make sure that the frame 1 is still enabled, select Insert > Create Motion Tween. The timeline will look like this: select Window / Controller to open Controller, and then click on rewind, and play the just created animation. The photo will start sliding from the right and will stop at a registration tag. Now its time to set symbol rotation and fading while moving. In the frame 1 set alpha transparency of the symbol as zero, and set the number of turns in Tweening Properties dialog box. Enable Frame 1 of the layer Photo. In the working field click on the instance INTRO - PHOTO and select Modify / Instance. Click Color Effect tab in Instance Properties dialog box and select Alpha from drop-down menu Color Effect. Move Alpha slider to zero mark, and press OK. The photo has become completely transparent (invisible). Only the borders of selection are visible now. Make sure that the frame 1 remained enabled, select Modify / Frame and click Tweening tab. Select Clockwise from the drop-down menu Rotate, enter 1 in the window Times, click OK.
Use Controller to view animation. Now the symbol is not only moving, but it is also rotating and changing its transparency from 0 to 100%. Now we have to enable Snap to the photo. Enable the keyframe 20 and drag with the mouse the symbol instance INTRO - CROWN from the library to the photo. Rewind animation back and review it to see if everything is done correctly. Adding stop animation action to the frame – in the symbol editing mode the newly created movie clip symbol stops at the last frame. But if you place it to the timeline, it will be looped by default and will be played again and again, until you make it stop.
