SAVING FILES IN GIF AND JPEG FORMATS
Using GIF and JPEG formats is determined by the fact that web makes us consider such a fundamental criterion as the file size. All images found on web pages can be simply divided into two groups: pictures and logos. A picture is a multi-colored image with a solid background; a logo is a high-contrast image with text containing a limited number of colors.
Choose GIF format, if the saved image has at least one position listed below:
* Transparent area;
* Using no more than 256 colors of RGB palette;
* Using Grayscale modes or Indexed Color.
Consequently, a logo image is ideal for saving in the GIF format.
Photos and multi-colored pictures containing no layers and alpha channels should be saved in the JPEG format.
