Search Engine Optimization Part 2

by Admin | post a comment

In this part of Search Engine Optimization template guide we will talk about external optimization. External optimization of the template and your future site is something that can be done outside the site on the internet without editing the template.

Submitting the template/future site to search engines is very important. Google most likely will index your site automatically, but you can do your best to ensure this by submitting your page to Google at http://www.google.com/addurl/.

Submitting your template/site to catalogs is very helpful too. Submitting to the right catalogues I mean. Let me explain here, please. I strongly do not recommend you to submit to most FFA (Free For All) catalogs. Most of them do not provide the direct link to your site from their pages using "A href=" html tag, they rather use the scripts that will link to your site, that is not useful for the optimization. Plus most of the FFA catalogs will rather subscribe your domain's mail for spam than do anything else.

Submit to catalogs like DMOZ (www.dmoz.org). Trust more to the catalogs that offer manual or semi automatic submissions rather then to catalogs that will do everything for you automatically.

Exchange links with your partners. You can exchange links with the sites of your partners in the same industry (in this way they are better rated by the search engine compared to links from websites that are not related to the subject your page, but if you have the possibility to exchange links you can still do it, but with the least effect). Link exchange is one of the most important aspects in your template's SEO.
